we are pleased to present this 1997 Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution. Finished in Satellite Silver.
Incredible piece of Dakar Rally History, built for the rest of the world market these unfortunately never made it to the states. Now just completing its 25-year rule restriction has granted this unique SUV access to now enjoy the roads of the US.
Launched globally in 1991, the second-generation Mitsubishi Pajero (called Montero in America) received a streamlined exterior design and a more refined interior in a bid to challenge the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Nissan Patrol. Short- and long-wheelbase versions of the Pajero were sold until 1999.
Mitsubishi released the Evolution model in 1997 to homologate the Pajero in the Dakar Rally. Starting with the short-wheelbase model, the company added a full body kit characterized by wheel arch flares, an all-around independent suspension system, a quicker steering system, and a more powerful engine, among other rally-inspired changes. Its efforts paid off: the Pajero took first, second, third, and fourth in the 1998 Dakar.
Most historians agree that approximately 2,500 street-legal Evolution models were built (most were sold on the Japanese market) and that around 500 of those were equipped with a manual transmission.
Power comes from a 3.5-liter V6, rated at about 276 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque. Called “6G74” internally, it spins the rear or the four wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission and a 2-speed transfer case.
This is a right-hand-drive, Japanese-spec SUV equipped with auto transmission. on its way from Japan , it’s equipped with a metric instrument cluster and its odometer displays approximately about 129,900 miles.
Factory equipment includes 16-inch wheels, an Evolution-specific suspension system, skid plates, an Evolution-specific body kit, Recaro front sport seats, a gauge cluster on the dashboard, and air conditioning.
Modifications include an aftermarket “EVOLUTION” sticker on the front bumper, a momo steering wheel, and a Pioneer Carrozzeria touchscreen.
This all-original example has been well cared for its entire life, still wearing its original paint on every body panel.
Interior is in great original condition with no rips, tears or fading on any of the seats, headliner or door cards. All electronics and gauges are in working order. AC blows ice cold.
Included with the sale: 2 Keys, Recent Service Record 0114 4830097 or 07880 967441 DEBIT CARDS ACCEPTED
